Four port router has 1 port that is used to hook up to the wan and four ports that allow other computers to plug into it. Therefore you can have four computers on the net at the same time without the use of an additional switch or hub.

A one port router has 1 port for the wan and 1 port used to hook up computer. To hook up multiple computers to the net you have to use an additional switch or hub.

I think its a sarcastic insult :|

Anyway I have a Linksys 4 port hub and I'm not sure if I should get a 4 port router, 4 port w/ wireless router, or just a 1 port router....decisions decision.
