Got two LNE100TX NICs, a befsr11 router, and a switch from Linksys. All have performed flawlessly.

Then you are lucky.

3 out of the last 4 Linksys NICs I hace ourchased have died.

There are MUCH more reliable NICs out there. Netgear, SMC, hell, even the generics with Realtek 8139's work great.

Your choice.

Linksys doesn't suck. Anybody who makes unilateral declarations about a product based on limited experience should be added to the ignore list. While I'm sure that they've shipped their share of bad product, so has every other company.

I've never used their NICs, so I can't comment on those. But, I have used their switches and routers - MANY of them - and have had just about zero problems.

Linksys definitly does not suck. I've used over a dozen of their NIC's, 4 of their switches and 1 of their routers and all have been extremely reliable. There is nothing wrong with Linksys.

What's the difference between v.1 and v.2? I'm not that sure, but over at www.practicallynetworked.com, they have a thread that says the v.2 version emits a high pitched squeal at all times. I have the v.1 version and it's silent and runs prefectly (18 months).
