whats the diff between ati ve and le?

LE - HyperZ disabled, but registry can be tweaked to enable
clocked at 138 but can usually clock to 183

VE - dual monitor output + S-video
no Charisma engine, one pipeline less, only 64 bit DDR

If you need the extra outputs, your choice is obvious. Once tweaked though,
the LE is a good bit faster.

tenoc,

1. What is HyperZ?

2. I have a Radeon 8500. You said HyperZ disabled, but registry can be tweaked to enable, can you tell me how to, or point to somewhere that shows how to do this.

He was referring to the Radeon LE, not the 8500 LE. The 8500 LE is all set to go, no worries. 🙂

Hyperz is a hardware feature in Radeon cards that allow the card to compress, and save bandwidth on the card. So they can actually obtain better then theoritical results with their cards.

Thats if the drivers aren't slowing them down.

I have the Radeon LE flashed to the Radeon 32DDR. My card now runs at full clock rate and has hyper Z, etc. enabled that were originally disabled on the LE.

Contact me if you desire this capability.
