If you want to be a CPA (the best title to aim for), you need a 4 year degree. I hire two year degree people as A/P Clerks. I hire 4 year degree people as accountants. There is a big $10K-$15K difference in salary from the start and that difference grows fast.
In Silicon Valley, where salaries are crazy? - between $25K and $30K with experience, less right out of school. Enough to get a somewhat shabby cardboard box on a somewhat safe street corner. Elsewhere, $18K max.
Thanks, I forgot about that. I had to do 5 years as I'm from Quebec (living in the USA now) and they require a 5th year for English students (only required 4 years for French students, imagine that).
