What's the diff b/t the A64 and AthlonFX?

The A64 is the 'low-end' of the new line, they're trying to cut costs on those. As for the FX, it's essentially an Opteron, so ECC, registered RAM should be expected. Early adopters almost always get shafted in the long run.

So if I buy a stick of 512MB unbuffered non-registered Kingston HyperX PC3200 (DDR400) ram I can use it with an Athlon64 (non-FX) motherboard combo?

If this is correct, then I will go this route. I don't plan to doing A64 until after December when we have more selection. But as long as I can get one good year out of an Athlon64 system, Socket 754, then I believe I have gotten my monies worth.
