What's the deal with this ipod Shuffle?

I bought this for my wife as a wedding present. I charged it up and none of the lights come on when I unplug it from my USB. It looks to be DOA, but I can copy music to it...just doesn't seem to have power. Anyone know any tricks?

I wanted the small size...I figured the screen would just drain batteries, etc....

Turns out though I fixed it. I left it plugged into my pc while I rebooted. The USB port restarting did something that brought it back to life. Working perfect again now so she'll have tune on the flight to Hawaii. See you all in a week or so.
