Just the fact of an 8MB buffer? Because I can save $11 by getting a "non-special edition" one :D

I know that if you buy it now, the special edition has a 3 yr warranty where as the non S.E. has a 1 year warranty.

Yeah not much difference other than cashe and $$ and the SE drives carry a 3year warranty instead of 1.

You can purchase 2 addtional years from WD for $20 .....so if the price difference is $11 then you would be better off with the SE drive.

Besides the 8 meg buffer which offers in some cases a sizeable performance increase, the WD sepcial edition drives also feature a 3 year warrenty versus the standard one.
