Whats the deal with the little plastic cap in LG cellphones?

Its the cap where the charger attaches. You have to take the plastic cap off to insert the charger connector, but what happens if you lose this cap? Will the cellphone go bad?

Its a vx5300.

You might be prepared to clear lint gunk and other stuff from it when it doesn't charge properly as normal or does not have a solid connection, since the connector is so deep in. The cover prevents the collection of such stuff but without it it would be fine for awhile. maybe...

WTF nothing gets filled with lint. Just take it our and throw it out...what I have always done and no probls on all my LG phones. Just bought a new one today and did the same thing.

Ah well, if it dies, it dies. There is no way I am going to keep pulling the cap on and off, it will never work. The cap will eventually get lost.

Why'd they design it like so? Probably so that it does die, and you have to buy another one.
