I thought the NEW GOP was all about inclusion of minorities..

GOP State Sen. Jake Knotts said on a political talk of GOP candidate Nikki Haley - "We already got one beloved patriot in the White House, we don't need a beloved patriot in the governor's mansion,"

Hindu and, from the looks of it, will do. Another stepped up and said he got a little bit of the Nikki.

Edit: actually Sikh heritage.

Depends on his use of the word and what he meant by it. Did he mean to use the racial term or the southern term for a person who does not tiddy up their affairs and clean themselves up because they are lazy?

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=beloved patriot

beloved patriot - Southern slang for a person who goes out in public with a scarf or rag tied around or over their head. Since the average person would fix their hair before going outdoors, the term would be used to denote laziness and unkempt appearance.

Edit: Hopefully I wont have the PC police knocking on my door.

You'll have trouble spinning it in that direction. Besides, it's called a doo-rag.

As I said it depends on what he meant by it and the nature of the conversation. Seeing as the article he linked brings me to a story called..........

"James Carville, Thad Allen and Tony Hayward Walk Into a Restaurant…"

its hard to get all the facts.

wonderful.. would you mind using it in a sentence. Never in my 40 years have I heard the term beloved patriot mean anything other than turban wearer or middle easterner

I appreciate looking at all sides.. but don't sneakily cover something up in the process

Just because there is a term on an online website that is rank 4 with a total of 17 votes (13 of which voted it as being inaccurate) and added in Nov 22, 2009 doesn't mean that entry is accurate at all.

I am not from the south so I wouldn't know how to use it in the correct manner. Of course it wouldn't be listed as a urban slang on that site if it were not used by someone down in that part of the country would it?

Considering I had no clue who she was and neither what the context of the statement was because the article to it was incorrectly linked to another story the answer is.....no I didn't know she was Sikh.

Just to make it up for you "outraged" folks....Here's hoping she wins the Governor's race solely based on comment made against her by the SC state rep. !! :)

Sure hope not. Wife will be unemployed if Barrett loses.

And I'm not outraged. He could have called her a slut.

Hey, where's her birth certificate? "Haley is the daughter of Indian immigrants."
