The last one I was in, the driver ahead of me was lagging waaaay behind the car in front as we went through an intersection on a red light. He got hit by cross traffic.

We drive with our lights on and teeny tiny little flags on our roof, but the honking sounds like a good idea also.

No police escort required here.

How do you lag behind in a funeral procession, they drive ~30 mph! 😛
Oh, I know. I'm driving, with three other people in the car, and all of us adults are thinking the same thing. It's something to watch it happen right in front of you. Then, I just witnessed an accident. Do I stop?

I didn't and neither did anyone behind me in the procession. The driver that drove through got a ticket and the driver that got hit, well his car was totalled. Nobody got hurt.

Even if it isn't the law, I would still yield simply out of respect to the family and friends.

These days it's like that's too much to ask.

no doubt. everyone let them thru and no one was upset and honking or anything. I was just crossing the street on foot. But at the same time, it was thru pretty busy philly city blocks at like 1:30 in the afternoon so it caused some problems.

Try being in the lead car .. ya, the long black one with the '50's Studebaker look to it. That, my friend, is having a 'problem'.
