Thank you for that deal, made a cool $250 :) I think I'm up to 1.5k from bank offers now. It's a shame they have really cooled down in how much money they hand out. I'm trying to find another get $200+ deal, but I haven't seen one in a few months.

Yeah, most of these banks are reigning in on the big money offers. Best I've seen lately is the 25000 Thank you point deal for the PremierPass Elite Card.

Is it still alive? If so, can you link me?

There is a $75 annual fee though FYI. Still a good deal overall though since you'll still be up as much as $175, depending on how you use the points.

Edit: Gotta make $500 in purchases within 2 months too

I prefer to call it Chubby Bill-fold.

The absolute best credit card deal if you charge a lot to your credit card is the Citi CashReturns card which offers unlimited 5% cash back for 3 months. If you make a lot of business purchases or have college tuition payments or anything like that, that's the card to get. You can even make your estimated tax payments with the card (I believe the IRS charges a 2% fee for credit cards, but you still come out ahead by 3%). Also, I think BoA lets you fund up to $1000 of a CD with a credit card (it does count as a purchase, and not a cash advance).

The sheer quantity of posts on SD makes them a better spot to find a wider array of deals, but the best deals will inevitably end up on both sites as others have mentioned.

fw has a lot of really negative people
sd has a lot of really immature people

fw offers cash back, slickdeals just keeps all the money

i forgot that at had a hot deals forum...funny that FW was a spin-off from the ATHD

most [if not all] hot deals forums are fluffed with crappy deals because the days of super hot deals & price mistakes on the net are long gone. both sd & fw have too many rude & childish posters.

In the interest of full disclosure, fw also signs your paycheck, does it not?

Yep, I was wondering if anyone would bring that up.

The FW finance forum can also be quite entertaining. Watch what happens when some n00b comes on there and either asks a very basic question, asks for advice on how to commit fraud, or describes a financial problem they are in that is so convoluted that everyone can't help but laugh.

The key is to look for threads with a very red rating.

Definitely a good card to use for that 3 month stretch. Overall though, I like the Citi Amex Platinum Card. 15000 thank you points, 5 pts for Gas, Groceries, and Drustores, and 3 points for everything else. It's my new favorite card :D

some amazing deals are born at fatwallet, or their competitor slickdeals.... which eventually shows up at fatwallet. Tho FW and SD play nice, and will state they found the deal on the other forum and who originally posted it

I personally use the slickdeals.net forums. Honestly though nothing is ever on one and not the other. Mostly cuz all the real deal hunters browse both consistently.

i agree. my experience has been that SD has been quicker with the hot deals

i've never looked at the finance section at FW though. maybe i should
