What's the deal with black uniforms?

Besides the traditional black-wearing teams...why are so many sports teams (pro or college) starting to wear black? Just to name a few teams that have started to wear black...

1. U of Louisville (noticed it tonight)
2. Chicago Bulls
3. Miami Heat
4. U of Oregon

I could name a few others if I had time to think. Black doesn't dazzle the eye or add any originality to a uniform...it's the worst color to have. Does anyone have an explanation for this?

It is to sell more merchandise. Black jerseys, t-shirts, caps and jackets sell big with the non-fan to whom they are trying to sell.
