I'm sitting on the side of the road right now in the middle of no where. I'm supposed to call my internship HR person at 7:30PM Phoenix time. I'm in New Mexico right now, near the town of Superior.

I went here and it says the time is 5:50PM in Phoenix. WTH? NM is supposed to be an hour ahead of AZ but all my clocks read 7:50PM, two hours. I called my dad in Ohio and he said it was 8:50PM there?

Arizona (with the exception of the Navajo Nation) and Hawaii and the territories of Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Guam, and American Samoa are the only places in the U.S. that do not observe DST but instead stay on "standard time" all year long. And if you've spent any time in the sweltering summer sun in those regions you can understand why residents don't need another hour of sunlight.

Ok, thanks. I guess all my clocks are wrong, and my dad's as well. I was on the phone and he asked me what time it was. I said it was 7:45, and he's like, oh yeah, you're an hour behind us.

No, the correct answer is: "who gives a shit?".

Oh, and I think AZ does NOT practice daylight savings, which is smart.
Daylight savings is the most pointless thing we've ever come up with. It solves absolutely nothing and actually makes problems.
We need to dump it.

Ohhhhhh...... so all my clocks ARE right and my dad's clock is right as well. Jeez, I guess when I cross the border into AZ tomorrow I'll be going back in time two hours. Does this mean that Seattle, which is even further west than AZ, is actually AHEAD of AZ in time?

Currenty, AZ, minus the Navajo is on MST (or Pacific Daylight Time, California time, if you prefer to think of it that way). When the rest of the country is on standard time AZ in still on MST (or Albuquerque/Denver time). Where in NM is Superior?

To each their own, I love DST.

I did, I did, gahhhh.... she didn't pick up so I left a voice message.

I'm literally sitting on the border of AZ and NM at the AZ welcome center. Now I gotta find a place to pitch for the night. Damned Petrified Forest National Park doesn't have any camping, there's no room in the car, and damned if I'm going to do a motel. Lol, tonight's gonna be fun.

It should be pretty obvious since Arizona has it's own time zone.

...damned if I'm going to do a motel.

You owe it to yourself to stay in a hotel...only a few miles down the road in glamorous Holbrook...

lol, I ain't paying $50+ just to stay in a fake wigwam (teepee???)

Wow, that's classic Americana. The old Route 66 roadside attractions are truly rare, and a lot of people seek these out before they disappear.

On the other hand $50 bucks saved.
;)

Holy crap. Root 66 RV Park is ghetto as hell. The tent area is "anywhere really, just make sure you're out of the way." My tent side is literally 50 feet from the highway, as in, if a car slid off the highway it could very possibly barrel into my tent at 60mph.
