I have a motorcycle transmission that is completely torn apart that is up for sale. The case is large, but is aluminum and is quite light. The internals are all steel and are quite heavy, but smaller. What do you guys think is the cheaper shipping method, to ship the large, light case in one and the heavy smaller steel in another, or to ship it all in one package? All together I bet it's going to be about 60 pounds, but the case alone is probably no more than 10.

USPS is more than likely going to be best option for reliability and cheaper. do not use FEDEX they will just lose it for you or damage it.

Fedex almost lost one of my packages. I had to have a pretty firm phone call with them ensure it got where it was supposed to go, that really pissed me off.

On the flip-side, UPS is usually $2-4 more expensive when you compare it to Fedex. Why the premium? I really have no idea.

I had Fedex shipping infromation claim something was delivered with a signature to my address. There was no box anywhere. I called to complain and they said there was nothing they could do about it, the system said it was delivered so it must be there.

A few days later a driver showed up at 10:00 pm knocking on my door. As I opened up the door he shoved it into my hands and bolted before I could even ask him a question. He ran down to the street, jumped into his car (not the Fedex truck) and sped off. I think the guy couldn't deliver all of his boxes on his route fast enough so he was just marking them as delivered and trying to deal with them later.

My sister had a Fedex guy that parked the truck out front and then ran up to her door. She saw him through the window as he came up the driveway so she walked to the door and opened it, only to see him running back to the truck. He hadn't even knocked, taped a note that said 'Final attempt' on her door, and then ran. She yelled at him and he got all flustered. He hadn't even brought the box to the door when he brought the note so he had to go back to his truck to get it. There had been no other attempts, the tracking information showed the package had just arrived in her town that morning. The driver was just a sleazeball.

Fedex used to be good but now they're doing things that are absolutely terrible for the customer.

It's the 'don't lose my package' surcharge.
