What's the chance a Celeron 566 hitting 952?? 8.5 x 112??

I am looking for a upgrade for my old system, the choice is Celeron 566, I also wanna overclock with the CPU. However, my motherboard is a Asus P2B, which only supports 66, 8 something, 100, 112, and 133.
Anyway, I would like the CPU to run at 112mhz, do you guys think a 566 can do 952mhz??

Just guessing, but I'd say 50-50. I've been using the 600's, I had 3 and they all did 900 no problem, and the one I kept can do over a 1000. But my hard drive doesn't like the overclocked PCI bus, so it's just running at 900 even.

That's a firm number from my many testing of 566.
You would be better off getting a 633 at this point and going for 950 on 100MHz fsb. Your chances are much better.

I would go with the 633
I bought a retail one from buy.com in Oct and it runs at 950 @ 1.75V

careful with the 633's from buy.com. i got two in october, both cB0's and both couldn't do 950 100% stable, even with arctic silver and GORB. i don't know if the cC0's are supposed to be any better, but don't expect too much out of the 633's. a lot of people have good experiences, but if you search the forums, a lot of people have problems, or need high (2.0) voltages to get the ship stable. i say, go with the 566, even if you can't reach 900, you're chances of hitting 850 (100 FSB) are much better. or go with the 600, both these seem to yield better chances of hitting 100 FSB than the 633.

You can also take the risk out of it buy getting a pretested and guaranteed chip.

my 566 does 995. 8.5 x 117, with an FOP 32. it only did 950 with a Gorb, and wasn't even stable at it.

mine does not get to 952 due to the big jump from 103 to 112FSB.
i think celery best overclock on BX mobo.

every celeron can get over 112FSB mostly BX mobo. that is what i have seen so far.

From what I have been seening and tried, it would be safer to go with 566. If 566 is harder to find, 600 would be the next. You would at least want the chip to run on 100Mhz bus. If you get 633 and it does not run on 100Mhz, you have to choose a bus speed such as 90Mhz or 95Mhz.

I would go with 566 (or 600) and secure 850Mhz (or 900Mhz) instead of taking a chance and get 633Mhz. After that, you can always squeeze a bit more by adding 3Mhz, 5Mhz, 12Mhz and so on.

PCI bus should not be a problem with 112Mhz bus speed because running it at 37.3Mhz is pretty much the same as using 75Mhz bus (37.5Mhz PCI). I have not had any PCI components or harddrives having problem on 75Mhz bus (37.5Mhz PCI) for quite some time. However, if you are using Intel 810 or 815, your integrated sound chip might not work well as I have had some problems with Asus boards myself.
