What's the business model for this site?

I would imagine that the advertising revenue is based on the traffic.

I don't go anywhere here other than the forums and I've heard others say the same.

Is it the forums that's are driving the profitability of this site or am I missing something?

Ad revenue generated from hardware reviews. I can't say about the profitability of the forums, but I use them without paying for them so I don't care if they're a bonanza for Anand (though I doubt they are).

Don't advertisers pay more based on the amount of traffic?

How much of the traffic a this site is generated by the forums?

I'm guessing it's a lot. Probably why he gave up on the attempt to double-dip.

Advertising rates were really depressed after the dotcom bubble burst and it probably required a premium service just to keep the forum up. In the past year or 2 advertising revenues have risen to reasonable levels again.
