Is it true that SB processors can't be physically destroyed by a remote cracker (see below for the explanation of why I used that term)?

I've been hearing that Ivy Bridge can suffer from malware that pinch/damage some of its transistors. I think the NSA is eventually going to damage at least some Ivy Bridges remotely, but I've heard that Sandy Bridge and earlier are safe from being physically destroyed by crackers (if hardware can be destroyed, it's technically being cracked rather than hacked)... that's why I'm asking.

I mean, no one outside Intel can truly answer this but I can't imagine how it would be possible outside some hidden MSR that let's a hacker drive Vcore beyond safe limits.

If you're talking about the one hypothetical experiment that was on here a while ago, that was more corporate espionage, and had nothing to do with IVB v. SB, as far as I could tell...
