What's the bottleneck?

I was just curious as to what system components cause the bottleneck in today high end computers. I have a tbird 1.2ghz 256mb geforce 2
It would seem like the video card would be because jeez it's a 1.2GHZ cpu the geforce is competing with. Or is it the RAM that is trying to keep up with everything else..reason being that they are coming out with those new DDR boards, which are supposed to be a pretty hefty performance increase..so one would think that the system memory (pc100-133) would be the bottleneck in the high end systems. Just curious, someone fill me in!

Okay actually my main question was a CPU vs Video card. Is my 1.2ghz vs my geforce 2 pretty balanced? Which one is most likely the outdated one (ie which would I replace in the future to get the most out of my system).

Ram and the FSB is a pretty big bottleneck. Just look at the P4. That thing is craving more memory bandwith and throughput. It's comparable to the original GeForce and the improvements seen by using DDR over SDR.

Yeah, your system is pretty well balanced. Of course it would help if you had a GF2 Pro or Ultra but those would probably be limited by the cpu.
