Whats the biggest "Bang for my Buck" out their today?

As much as i want a 7970 i'm kinda mehing the idea of spending 1200 on a pair or even 1800 on 3 of them. Whats the best bang for my buck out there now at 1920X1080 res? 6970's are 299.99, 6950's are 239.99.

Seems most people like the 6950 2gb.

7000 series is so close i would wait it out but hell i didn't follow my own advice lol and jumped on a gtx560 ti to replace a 6790.

Perhaps by april ivy will be here and the whole radeon 7000 series line up will be here and the drivers will be matured and i could have both a new cpu and gpu to replace my i3 2100 and gtx560 ti😛

Probably Tri-fire 6950 2GB would be the way to go. If you can find GTX 560 2GB's for $30+ cheaper, that's another route too, but I wouldn't invest money in cards with only 1GB.

7000 series is close but for the money i think i'll probably wait.

How well do 6950's scale and there is no way i would even consider a 1GB Gpu these days. Can 6950's do 4 way?

You have 5870's. Unless you play games where the 5000 series has really bad CF scaling over the 6000 series, nothing is going to give you any sort of bang for your buck.

I don't know why you'd need more than one 7970 to run 1920x1080.

I'd upgrade your monitor first before paying $1100+ on more video cards.

^ too true. considering where you're coming from.

in any case, if 7970 oc is to be believed, you'll definitely be getting best "bang for the buck" especially if you can wc...

according to TPU: its the 6870

but i think this chart only refers to MSRP prices.

If you have 4 x5870 2gb then you aren't going to see much of an improvement unless you go 3 x 7970 or better. For the money I think its a bit pointless. Wait for Kepler and hope it makes AMD drop prices.

@Jacky60

thats true at stock, but those 7970's can overclock really well.
A 7970@1200mhz is faster than a 590 (2x 580 chips) or 6990 (2x 6970's).

I think 2 x 7970 would beat his 4x 5870, due to the 5870 not scaleing as well, and how poorly optimised (usually) things are for running 4 cards in SLI/CF.

That said.... jeez 4x5870s.... what cant that run currently?

If someone with 4x480's or 4x570, asked what upg would best suit them....
well.... only thing higher would be next gen, either 79xx or nvidias 6xx series.

Same issue here.

quadfire 5870 2gb's... only logical upgrade is 3gb 580's or 3gb 7970's in 2x, 3x or 4x configurations.

Ha, I missed that the OP has quad 5870 2gb. For a 1080p monitor. There's nothing we can do here guys.

Have a pair of Crucial M4's already. Maybe i should spend the money and go 3 monitors but if i can find a buyer of my 5870's i might even consider Tri 7970's

Oops, I take it back. Tri monitors is absolutely the way for you to go. You already have the gpu horsepower to push it, and then you can upgrade gpus again in 6-9 months after the 28nm dust finally settles.

Pretty much what everyone else said - upgrade your monitor setup. There is zero reason for you to "upgrade" your video card setup for your current resolution / single monitor setup.

@Tweakboy

He has 4 x 5870's in Crossfire in his system.
A singel 460 1gb, or even 4, would be a downgrade for him.

Well, tweakboys post at least represents a reasonable "bang-for-buck" option. This whole thread is lame, even my card can play most games a 1080p! WTF! Why do you have quad-crossfire with 1080p?!?!
