When have you ever gotten in trouble becaues you replied to an email 1 minute late? People get annoyed at days without a reply, not minutes. Also, so far none of my emails have been ultra time sensitive but even the ones that were, are able to withstand the 5 minutes between POP checks my Outlook does. Anyway, I'd rather have PUSH than not, but it's not THAT cool to me.
That's assuming you're at the computer that you can have it check your mail every 1 min. The #1 reasons of why push technology took off is because you're mobile. It's like IM, except it's under a universal system (emails) and it's with you at all time, no matter where you are.
I agree though, it's not 'exciting'. It's not supposed to be. I'm sure the first time you use an IM, you thought it was exciting, i know i did when i discovered ICQ like 10 years ago. But now it's just another tool. It doesn't have mp3 capability, GPS tools, built-in cameras, etc for a reason.
