Dude... our 240sxes have no cupholders. Wtf is that? I have to put my drinks in the glove compartment or else I can't shift. And the seats suck. My neck hurts after a 150 mile trip 🙁.

It's a sports car dammit! We don't need no stinkin' cup holders! 😀 I just stopped drinking in the car after I spilled sprite once in the center console. The seats kick ass (for me). I find them really comfortable and supportive.

What are cupholders that roll up in hte window?

And are you guys insinuating the Lada is not a great car?? hmm?? 😀

Actually it has what Nissan calls a cupholder... a rectangular box behind the shifter. It works for short drinks, but anything bigger than 5" and it gets in the way so I can't shift.

It was a joke 😉

They were big int he 70's and early 80's... they were just a piece of plastic you bought from places like Kmart and Target for $.29. They had a hook on them that went on the window and you put your drink in em.... Very white trash 😉

I don't think they'd work in our 240SX since we have frameless doors. The tight rubber sealing wouldn't allow the cupholder's hook to go over the window smoothly withouht disrupting the tight sealing by the rubber.

S2000 has a quicker 0-60 AND has better Skidpad. It also went through the Slalom at 5.9MPH quicker. The lap times were .8 seconds different (Camaro winning).

The problem is this is against an SS which has more TRQ/HP. So against a Z28, the S2000 wins hands down?

From the same publication, run at the same track on the same day and from the same driver.

You're forgetting that after a few 4.9 second runs in the S2000 the car will be sitting by the side of the road with a fried clutch or worse.

Top end horsepower? Who cares if you have to be at 50MPH to feel it, are you gonna downshift to 2nd on the freeway just to feel it? I want it down low where I can feel it from every stop sign, stop light, onramp, and while in 5th. I can feel the torque whenever I want. I got 295LB/ft of it in a smallish truck.

1) Driving style. (Is downshifting too difficult? If so why not just get an auto tranny?)

"But you can take the S2000 road racing!" Are you GOING to? I can spend $20 and a friday night and go drag racing. I have. Drag racing is quite popular and the torquers almost always kill the twisters. (though the twisters often kill thier half shafts)

An alternative would be autocrossing, which albeit popular, isn't as common as everyone makes it out to be. If it's popular, it must be the best, right? Hey, it's your town -- I don't know what's popular there. Then again, I doubt you could say much about the popularity of drag racing across the US.

By your logic, who in their right mind would buy a lighter, slower car with great handling (i.e. Miata) and even bother "road racing"?

And consider that you really should be comparing the S2000 to the Corvette. They're closer in price and in the same class. Think the S2000 can outrun a car w/ 345HP and possibly BETTER handling?

Yes, Corvette's $43k is closer to S2000's $30k pricetag than S2000 is to Z28's $23k or SS's $28k.

Most car buyers today place the priorities as such:
1: Image
2: Cup holder count
3: Rim size
4: Impressive sounding numbers
5: Cup holder size

12: Performance

Yes, and since the majority of the car buyers today drive an automatic, let's just assume everyone in America drives automatic.

The Mitsubishi Eclipse is a 3200LB car, but people _THINK_ of it being a small car. The Camero is a 3500LB car but people _THINK_ of it as a big heavy car. Those "little" cars are often not as light as you think. 300LBs won't cover a 100HP deficit unless you're in the 1000HP range.

We're not comparing Eclipses. We're comparing the S2000's 2,809lbs and Camaro's 3,439lbs, and spell the goddamn car name right.

I've said it once, I've said it a billion times, stop trying to drive small displacement, double cam profile engines (since the word VTEC gets thrown around too much) as though they were big block domestics and expect the same results.

It comes from people who haven't drove a Vette and like to jump on the bandwagon and quote what other people say. Kind of like how domestic drivers try to drive small displacement engines like their domestic, then comment on how little power they have on the low end. That's how the mother f$#@ing car's designed.

All that miles per gallon quote is pure crap too, it all depends on how you drive. When I drive my Prelude up to Dallas / Austin on I-35, I get 28 mpg because I leave it in 5th and stay at 75mph. I've driven both Vette's, Camaros, S2ks, and even Preludes.

The 5k launch you do isn't a dump. You slip break the tires loose and slip it (modulating) for the remainder. My friend who moderates kill stories on PreludeOnline patented it as the "LC" launch.

He still had to replace his stock clutch @ 65k. A lot of S2k owners do as well. You should be more worried about the defects inherent in the Prelude transmission.

I'm not referring to the LC launch. Doing a 5k dump will stress the transmission, yes; but it's not as bad as what domestic lovers would like to believe (sort of like how import lovers believe the Corvette can't handle worth bunk).

Yes, the Prelude inherently has plenty enough of transmission problems that Honda isn't willing to admit. 4-5 grinds and trouble putting it into first when the car's cold are among the top, not to mention the SS's.

And BTW, I do know who 99Prelude_LC is, I grew up in Plano, and yes his launch will kill the clutch. Last I heard he supercharged the Lude. I have the same SN on PO.com as well. 🙂

just remember when comparing: S2000=4 cylinder Camaro=8 cylinder

any motor will last long even if you push it to its limits!! as long as you take care of the motor and keep up with the services.

What's with all the number throwing here? unless you go to the track every weekend or brag on the internet everyday its kinda dumb to pick a car because it puts up better numbers on paper.

ive driven a S2000 and a Z28 and the s2000 was just plain funner to drive to me. The chassis was awesome (and its a convertible!), the braking and steering was so accurate it made for a sublime package. in the s2000, it felt as if i was driving with the car, in the z28, it felt as if the car was driving me.

for day to day driving experience, id derive more pleasure from the s2000. however its all personal preferences.
