I'm looking at the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer platinum with tilt wheel, any other suggestions?

not looking at wireless right now.

If you using for gaming use the Razer Diamondback or the Logitech as stated above me just your personal preference. The advantage of the logitech that you can change dpi settings by hardware using the buttons close to the tilt wheel and the razer cant. Both retail about the same price online

one thing I don't like about logitech is that you have to install the software...

microsoft just plug and play, no extra services running in the background...

Exactly how much better is the 518 vs. the 510? I wanna get the 518 but the 510 is only 30 bucks at futureshop right now, so I dunno if I should get that...is it worth the extra ~40 bucks(which it will be from the only place i can get it from), to get the 518? It will be used for gaming.

sorry for the hijack 😛.

Actually the logitech mx518 works without software right of the bat and changes dpi without software dont know were you have been

for logitech, you don't need the software (even for wireless sets)

Yeah...to the person who said the Logitechs needs software: No they don't.

I have never ever used the software for my mice.

I think the main difference is between the two is the ability to change dpi settings on the fly with the 518. IMO 510 is best value right now.

Really? Because I just pluged my mx500 in and all the buttons worked no installation of any software (and yes it did come with an installation disc).

And Logitech MX anything is good. It all depends on your price range 🙂

i dont use drivers for my mx-518 still get the full dpi plug the mouse in and press the + sighn like 5 times if that doesnt bug you than do that.

edit: best wired mouse is mx-518 or Raz0r.

wireless mx-1000

I've used an MX700 (good for general use, not good for gaming) and currently use an MX510. It's awesome.

I imagine the MX518 is the best mouse on the market, since it's an MX510 with upgrades. But if you don't need the extra features (which are designed for a very specific niche) then pick up an MX510 for very little money. The prices have dropped considerably.

Yep, I'm not using MouseWare\SetPoint on my MX1000 and it works perfectly.
