Yes, I know there are waxes available via mail order than are amazing. However I'm not talking about waxes like that. Basically tomorrow if I go to Pep Boys or Target, what is the best type of car wax? And does it really matter in that "price range" or are they all really the same?

<< Zaino >>

Supposed to be the best, but no stores around here have it. I thought you had to order it.

Zaino is pretty much mail order only. You can get more info here:Zaino
I hear that Klasse is just as good, but it may be just mail order too.
I've used Megular's it's pretty good. If you want just a wax, just make sure it's carnauba and you really can't go wrong. If you are looking for a good deep shine though make sure you use a polish first, then give it a good coat of wax.

Wax huh? Meguiar's Gold Class or Zymol.

If you're going to do it right, get the entire Meguiar's Golc Class system, all 3 steps. If you really want to do it right, use their clay bar first to remove all the contaminants from the paint.

Liquid glass polish is about the best shine I've seen off of store bought brands. Really deep shine.

I second this opinion.

Although, using a separate polish before waxing on a new car is a little overkill, it can help on an older car.

One warning: Do not use Zymol on a humid day!!! It's a mess because it's so hard to buff off if the humidity is moderate to bad. It's just smears and streaks.

I don't like Meguiars because it donesn't last long. I used their yellow can wax before and with my car parked outside (in the midwest in the fall) it was gone in two weeks. After that I went to Finish First and now am trying Zaino which I put on three weeks ago. Zaino looks nice but is supposed to last much longer, like up to six monthes. Plus, it's no biggie to add more coats every few monthes if you want. For store brands I hear the 3M stuff is good, I think 3M Imperial hand glaze is good. Not sure on what you other 3M products go with it (edit: use 3M Perfect-it Show Car Paste Wax over it .) I would highly recommend trying Zaino, all you really need is Z1 and Z2 (Z5 is nice as it fills in swirl marks.) For those two items you're looking at $30 shipped but if used right (thin coats) it will last you a long time.

If you just want a good shine that will last awhile try Nu-Finish.

No, you won't get the greatest shine with it, but it is easy to apply and lasts a long time.

Nu Finish easy and good on Red and Black.

My favorite, Eagle One, The Wet Look. Ditto above. Depends on age and condition of your paint also.
