What's the best way to go about quitting my job?

It's my first job, and i have been in it for about 2 months. THey just finished training me about 2-3 weeks ago......it really does take away my study time....but im too nice to just quit outta no where after they put all that training into me 🙁

Be polite. Give two weeks' notice.

Tell them the truth: that you want to work there but your first priority has to be your studies and you've found that your studies have suffered since you started there.

Bomberman, not a good idea. It is always best to give 2 weeks notice. You will want to use them as a reference later.

Didn't you know it was going to cut into your study time before you accepted the job? You should have at least known before they fully trained you.

If they spent the time and investment to train you then you have a responsibility to them.

I hire a HS student every year to help out my tech and if one of them up and quit on me after a couple of months I would be pretty upset.

Thankfully, all but one as been very reliable.

Tell them your problem. If you don't mind the job and it's just cutting into your study time, it at least gives them the option to do what they think is best. They may surprise you.

yeah the thing is they ask for 20 hours a week outta me and i think that's a lot for a full time college student like me 🙁

tell them that you need more time for school. If they say yes, even better. If they say no, then it's obvious that you'll want to quit and they'll accomodate that. Gives you some options rather than just going up and saying, "I'm quitting, here's my two week notice".

poop on your boss's desk. That way when somone asks you the craziest thing you've ever done, you can say that you did it. People will laugh, girls will like you.

Ditto what jooksing said - tell them that you need more time for school, and try to negotiate better working hours. If they won't accomodate, hand them your 2-week notice.

Please remember that it is proper protocol to be drunk during your last shift at work.

No no...I wasn't talking doing anything drastic and of course I'd give two weeks notice...They see him as super-valuable but it would be nice if he could convince them that they'd be better off without him too...

So you have a Nguyen Nguyen situation...

Make a total nuisance of yourself. Act like a real clutz, like go out for a smoke and throw the match in the garbage can, or go to shake a female customers hand while falling forward tearing her dress off, that kind of stuff always works in the movies anyways, so it must work in real life, right?

ask them to cut your time down to less than 20 hrs, like 15 or 10 or whatever you can handle.

if they say no, then put in your 2 week notice.

what is the job?

By the way, working only 20 hours a week should not affect your ability to perform asa full time university student

Why would he want to use them for a reference? What would his employer say, well, he was here two months and quit after we trained him.

I wouldn't even bother mentioning this job to any future employer.

I don't see how 20 hours affects your study time either, unless the work is cutting into your extracurricular activities thus effecting your study time. You should have expected this before you took the job. Try to negotiate for more flexible hours or less time. Give a two week notice if you must. I don't know if I would use them on future applications after this.

Stop showing up.
See how long it takes for them to take you off the payroll.

Seriously, explain your situation and see if they can accommodate you.
