Ok....Listen up. Here is the single best way to clean out your sinuses. Not for the weak, but it is used by hospitals.

1) Get a squeeze bulb. The kind with a large bulb and long, thin tube. Same thing as is used to help newborn babies breathe. It's blue.
2) Prepare a warm solution of salt water.
3) With head tilted over sink to the side, insert tube through nose into sinus.
4) Give'er a big ole forcefull squeeze of salt water
5) Repeat 3 times for each nostril

Sinus cavity cleared.

They sell a kit at most drug stores now that come with a bottle instructions and some salt packets. I use it at least a couple of times a week. You would not believe what comes out of there.

I was gonna say that... But seriously, go for the salt water in the baby breather, or a nasal spray.

Spray yourself in the face with OC spray, the highest % you can find. It will work, trust me.

man just did this.

first one kinda hurt and exploded out the same side. 2nd and 3rd was a little better. but the 4th was disgusting.

then did 4 times on the left.

the right is really clear. the left is still clogged. worse part was it going in the back of the throat. eww

how much salt should a person use?

A pretty strong solution. As long as the salt still dissolves. Taste it.....should be like sea water. I know it sounds gross, and it's hard to do, but it will clear you out. Your goal is your sinus cavity, not your nose. Blow that crap outta there.

Gah, use a neti pot instead! Same general idea but you're pouring the water through your sinuses instead of forcing it through. The salt solution should be about 1 tsp to about 500 ml.

Hmm just went out to Rite-aid, tried to find something like this but the closest thing they had was this salt formula thing that has a top like you'd find in a Power-Ade bottle.

I bent over, squeezed the bottle, not really expecting anything and had to let go. I recomposed myself, prepared for it, and was able to squeeze for a few seconds. It felt like inhaling water at a beach, and it seemed to work a little bit.

However it doesn't seem to be able to penetrate as well as the squeeze bulb based on pics that I saw, and didn't get into the sinus cavity.

I'm going to try again to try to get it deeper..

Edit: Went far enough this time that it came out of my other nostril and tasted it in my mouth. I'm about 80% clear now, whereas before it was closer to 40.

No! Read up on neti pots, learn a little about the correct way to do this. Forcing water into your sinuses without having it drain out isn't going to do you much good.

You are really foolish. I gave you a simple effective solution in the first reply and you ignore it and go do something complicated like this.

Regular generic nasal spray works and is easy!

I would be surprised to see a nose this did not work for. I have had some of the stuffiest noses my friends and family have ever seen, either from allergies or from colds. So stuffy that you breathe in and no air moves at all, it's the same effect as holding your nostrils shut and then trying. Even in that case, I just have to get a LITTLE bit of movement going to be able to inhale the nasal spray, and within 20 minutes or so it'll at least be clear enough to breathe in and out.

Do you work for a nasal spray company or something?

Well if you needed something physically altered that is a totally different situation. Glad to see something helped you out, though.

No, but I have had really bad stuffy noses and nasal spray has always worked when oral decongestants never did.

just because it worked for you does not mean it will work for everyone.

Yeah. I know. That's why I simply said "I'd be surprised to see a nose it didn't work for." And I already see why yours would be different if you required surgery to really help. And I told the OP he was foolish for ignoring my suggestion because that should defintely be tried first before doing anything more complicated or painful. There's really no argument here, don't make one.
