Well, just called my local camera shop and they charge $25. I'll look around and see if I can find anything cheaper, but in the mean time I'll clean the lens and keep shooting until it gets worse.
Well cleaning the mirror isn't going to do anything to get rid of that spec on your pictures. That's either something on or inside the lens itself or on the sensor. Whatever you do, do not blow compressed air onto the sensor. I would try locking the mirror up and using the hand blower to lightly blow any dust out of the area of the sensor and use a good lens pen on the front and rear lens elements. See if that clears up your problem. If it doesn't then I would take it in and have it looked at.
