What's the best video card brand (BFG? XFX? eVGA? ...)

XFX? eVGA? BFG? MSI?

just wondering what everyone thought. I personally loves BFG for years, nice OC edition cards, no frills packaging, decent price and the tech support is quick and courteous. MSI another good one I'd trust although their tech support not as up there. Many people have recommened evga in forums I think I will give that brand a try soon. But I'm brand loyal so has always only been BFG for me so far on every purchase.

EVGA is good too -- except their support is pretty slow and is mostly on the forums from my experience.

I still buy them over any other comp just cuz their cooler sticker doesn't have some cross-eyed goofy looking robot/beast on it 😛

In my opinion they are all the same as in quality. Ive heard before that XFX uses flimsy PCB's. I dont know. But if it were me, it would be EVGA.

The only two that I have ever had trouble with:
VisionTek: Their cheap fan failed on a Ti4200, was out of business at the time so they could not honor the warranty, fixed it myself.

Asus Ti4200: Fan failed and it over heated, RMAed and the new card produced artifacts (swapped with the Visiontek to verify that it was not something else in the system), RMAed again and it the third card still produced (different kinds of) artifacts. Gave up and bought an XFX 6800GT that worked perfectly.

well nowadays, they are moving to beautiful amazons ... maybe you won't object to that :]

As far as support I have dealt with

EVGA has better features, support was about the same compared with BFG

EVGA supports Overclocking and your own coolers

Based on No BS Tech Support, and RMA Performance.... BFG Hands Down... Especially if you are in the Midwest... RMA = 1-2 days, and NO BULLSHIT !

I have also dealt with BFG in a deeper Issue with NVIDIA, and they were behind me, and fought NVIDIA, and were Pro Active from a Corporate Standpoint...

They will fight for you if there are issues.

I agree that EVGA has a more Attractive Exterior But.......

EVGA has deep issues with their technical support, and RMA process have bought 3 8800(G92)GTS and Two 9800 GTX GX2 during the current year for builds for friends.

The 9800 GTX GX2 have had Design, and BIOS issues that caused the VRAM to get toasted, and then the cards would error, and cause BSOD etc.

Both times their Tech Support was lost to the cause... Every time I called "It's Your Power Supply" was the chorus.... and I knew what the actual issue was they just were not willing to Issue the RMA.

And it all goes back to that Foxconn is still releasing new cards, with Fan Speed Issues in the BIOS/Drivers. This goes back to an issue that goes back to Oct, 2007, and has never been addressed.

The GPU's in that Card run at 70C at Idle, and 80C+ in Load that is right at the point where VRAM begins to slowly degrade, and eventually Error.

They do not apply lessons learned

After that Crapola EVGA is a Second Line Vendor, as is XFX
.

I've only owned eVGA, PNY, and made by ATi cards for as long as i've been gaming, none of them have given me any problems but I must say eVGA shines overall.

The only tech support I ever for a video card was BFG and it was awful. This was with a 6800nu AGP card. This is my one-off experience with them, take it for what it's worth. I'd personally prefer to not deal with them again.

In my experience, it's been hit or miss with all these manufacturers. I feel that EVGA offers one of the better values with it's 90-day Step-Up program. I've dealt with EVGA, BFG and XFX and to be honest... I don't see any of these three beating each other in the customer service department. Frankly, they have been pretty much the same for me.

Now for ATI cards, I must recommend VisionTek for their Lifetime warranty and overall solid products. I've owned a few Sapphire cards and while the cards themselves are OK, I'm not a fan of their warranty.

He looks like DOAKES from Dexter. 😀

I had an excellent experience with XFX and a buddy of mine had the same excellent service just recently. Also, thier double lifetime warranty was very nice to have when I was selling my 6800GT. It's definitely adds value to a used card.

My preference is XFX if the price is basically the same. However, I would have no issues going with EVGA or BFG if they were the cheaper card.

I love my his and have no problem with them, but visiontek has the lifetime warranty.

I've only actually needed to use support twice to return anything card wise in that regard, eVga and BFG. I find BFG's support is lightening fast, and I love 24/7 telephone support in the english language, evgas a little slower but with more frills (cross shipping option for example). I've seen many evga and bfg techs lurking on the common forums and know its not uncommon for people experiencing problems to get PMs from them trying to help sort an issue out, that's outstanding imo while good pr. I can't comment on the others, as I've had no problems ever with Vistontek, HIS, Sapphire. One thing about HIS is they ship that nifty tool thats a flashlight and screwdriver with some cards, I didn't think I would actually use it but it's a cool little toy and I have actually used it quite often much to my surprise.
