What's the best TV in the 32" to 36" Range? (Under $900 :) )

The 32" VVega has obvious scan lines. My older 27" Sony Trinitron doesn't have them as badly. Personally I think the 32" is inferior to the 27" or 36" Sony's whether VVega or Trinitron.

Actually the non-XBR 36" Wega has scan lines too. They are pretty annoying. The XBR has the Digital Reality function which really eliminates the lines. Too bad its so expensive.

I second illkid's recommendation. I sold Philips Magnavox, Toshiba, RCA, GE, and a host of other brand name TV's and I can honestly say that Toshiba Cinema series are the best TV's for your money. Sony Wega's are nice, but the image quality isn't without artifacts. The Toshiba Cinema Series is a finely tuned TV and I would much rather pay for one than the price you'd pay for a Wega. I don't know the retail cost on the Toshiba 36" CS but our cost as a dealer was $665 so I imagine it's right around your budget of $900.

Have a 32" Toshiba and also a 27" Trinitron. The Toshiba has a great picture but the Sony does edge it out. I would not hesitate to go with Toshiba and it will fit your budget. Beats the RCA hands down.

Sounds like the Toshiba Cinema is the way to go... I'll go check it out at the Local REX today 🙂. They have one with a Free-VCR (Hi-Fi no-name, but I can use it in my room or something) for $699.00.

Here's the decription:

Toshiba Color TV with 36" FST Black Invar Super-tube, mts surround sound, universal remote (of course), on-screen programming.

Is the FST Tube anything special? Guess this one isn't the Cinema... 🙁

I won't say what is best, but i fix 'em all, and RCA is SUCK!
Seriously, they are junk.
Stay away from them.
I would rather have a Sanyo.

Panasonic, Toshiba, Sony, JVC are all good.
JVC is most expensive to repair.
SONY is expensive too.
Panasonic makes a good set.
I personally don't like toshiba, but they are supposed to be good sets, and I don't see many(if any) for repairs that aren't many years old.

Well Rex, and Circut City are on my list to visit today. There's no Best Buy in the area here, so that's out of the question. I'll stop back and let you know what I found.

Want to be sure I get the best TV for the $. 🙂

if you don't want picture in picture, then sony, otherwise JVC.
to get a high quality 36" model you have to spend more than $900.

Well much to my amazement, everyone I spoke with and after reading 4 audio visual professional magazines and Consumer Reports they all recommend (in this order):

$899 local, $1099 retail JVC 36D201
Toshiba Cinema Series
Panasonic

I guess the JVC has a lot better sound, etc. I say visit the store and see whichever you like as long as it's a JVC, Toshiba, Panasonic or Sony you can't go wrong. My roommate has had his 27" Toshiba Cinema Series for almost 8 years and has never had a problem, it's still running solid.

Try and buy from 800.com you could save up to 20% off and that's enough to buy a DVD Player (Toshiba SD1600 or SD1200).
