That's cause unlike you we all understand that Bell Labs reversed engineered the transistor from the UFO crash in Roswell NM so it seems unfair to give them credit for intellectual property stealing;)

I definately think it's a tie between the Automobile/Internal Combustion Engine, and the semiconductor.

Both changed our lives dramatically. Do you realize that before cars, people seldom traveled more than 20 miles from their homes?

Hmm... that a hard one I like the Rail Gun, but the Laser is also neat..

LoL I still dont travle more then 20 miles from my home. Except to go skiing... then I do.

The generator, without this device we would even be able to post on the internet with our computers filled with transistors.

Oh yea, and quiet mattresses. So the kids don't wake up. :D

Not a whole lot of "inventions" related to human genetics that spark that much interest, and alot of them either were modified from other fields or invented for more than that purpose. Genetics tends to fall under the discovery category more oftenmethinks....but it's kind of semantics really.
