Heh, plumbers putty--so true.

Been going with Skippy Chunky Style here, but, I like the non-chunk variety too.

I haven't found a natural one that's good... maybe I'll try one next time.

It's pretty darn bad for you regardless so I don't eat it that often, I think with all the other crap I eat the transfats in skippy are probably not worth worrying about.

Don't ever buy peanut butter without the oil on top, unless you like hardening of the arteries.

For real.

Hydrogenated oils? Back on the shelf it goes.

Hmm -- just wondering, but anyone know how much hydrogenated oil goes into most? I was reading the ingredients on Adam's no-stir, and it has "2% or less hydrogenated oil." It, however, doesn't require stirring, even though it's a "natural" peanut butter -- ingredients: Peanuts, 2% or less hydrogenated cottonseed oil, salt.

Anyone know?

Not sure, but why buy it if it has hydrogenated oil? There are plenty of options with 0% trans fat that are very good.

The texture is a bit better than their other option, which is plain natural. I personally don't care for the oily taste/texture of natural peanut butters, though it appears that 1% isn't exactly much. I guess it's just a personal choice; I know that some people prefer the oilier taste.

There's big differences among the plain, natural types. I personally think Smucker's is quite good. It has excellent consistency and taste.

what do you do with the oil on top? ive never had that kind
If you store the jar upside down it won't be on the top. Easier to mix that way.

AFAIC any amount of hydrogenated oils is too much. This stuff is the real killer in the American diet. Crisco will be the death of you.
