Best overall: Rage Against The Machine (self-titled)
Rage Against The Machine is probably their best album overall. The guitars are great, the vocals and lyrics are very well done.

Evil Empire: Probably the "darkest" of all the Rage album. Great guitar work and vocals, however there is a lack of creativity in the drums.

Battle of Los Angeles: A pretty good album, but it seems to be more "polished" than the other Rage album. A big step in Zack's song writing, and there are some fantastic tracks on the album.

Renegades: Although a cover album, Rage does an excellent job converting some classic songs and still manages to make a point. Probably the most creative Rage album.

Sure. The one where they talk about how redistribution of wealth is antithetical to the American way of life.

Which one in your opinion is the hardest one? I don't want a mellow album :), Battle of LA is pretty fast and hard IMHO..

I'd also have to say the self-titled, the first one. Incredible album. IMHO. I didn't much like the second album, Evil Empire. I also liked Battle For Los Angelos even though it strayed a bit from their style in the self-titled. Renegades is decent as well, a decent cover, I like it. :)

Their first album. The other albums are great but can't even compare. I've listened to that album more than any other cd I've ever owned by far.

Rage Against the Machine, then Evil Empire, then Battle of Los Angeles.

Get the video + The Ghost of Tom Joad set too.

The first on their self-titled one? Well their first album is their self-titled one. That's my favorite. Next is Battle of Los Angeles. Evil Empire and Renegades, probably a tie for 3rd.

The first album was definitely ground-breaking, but I think BOLA is the best. Some excellent funky bass by Tim, and Tom at his best. That's my opinion.
