whats the best radeon for gaming under $100?

My nephew wants to upgrade his video card and is dead set on a Radeon, but doesn't have much money to spend. $100 is even pushin it, the cheaper the better. I read a post the other day saying all the 7xxx series cards were very poor for 3D gaming. What radeon do you think is the best budget gaming card?

for that budget, you can probably get a radeon 7500 or 7000, both are relatively good cards for 3d performance, about equal to a Geforce2 GTS. But of course, you can also get a geforce 2...

Pricewatch.com shows 7500's with DDR for about U$ 80.

They also show SDR's for the same. Do not get them!

Make sure he gets the DDR version!

You can get the Radeon 7500 for about $85 or so...., performs about on-line with a GF2 Ti in most cases... and the added DVI-I, and TV-Out along with HydraVision is a nice benefit. Tends to be very overclockable too if you care for overclocking.

It's no GF3 or R8500, but it's still more then adequate for most.

If you buy an ati card please buy a retail box from either ATI or a 3rd party ATI chipset vender. Their oem cards are not the most fun things in the world to work with.

I looked on pricewatch, and although this isn't an ATI retail, it is poweremagic retail (I make this conclusion from the listed software bundle).
