no shit. that's the most badass consumer drill I've ever seen.

Yeah it's funny, I went to rent it, then I asked how much it would cost to buy it. Was 200 and something bucks, considering I was paying like 30 something to rent it for 1 day, I just bought it on the spot. Glad I did since I used it several times and it already paid for itself.

i got an anemic honda metropolitan (got a killer deal on it). as soon as i get some money together i'm upgrading to a vino 125. then when i get some money/experience together, i'm passing the scooter down to the fiance and buying a real bike.

at least, that's the current plan.

LOL. Bro, I'm rocking a 2007 Met myself, and I'm 6'2" and 235 lbs.

I like to tinker, so I made a custom intake for it, bolted on an aftermarket exhaust system, and installed an aftermarket variator and belt. Now, it'll just about get me to 45 mph on a flat road.

Best mod you can do to it is a Hona windshield, though. Easy to bolt on and guaranteed improvement.

A "before" pic here: http://totalruckus.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=92&t=82236

Don't really have any "after" pics, but it doesn't look incredibly different. I took off the rear trunk, even though it's pretty functional. Added the windshield. Yeah.

LOL. I'm on a 2009 and weigh a full 80 pounds less.

I was about to start modding it (my buddy is actually good friends with one of the top tier scooter modding companies around here), but it got way too fucking expensive way too fast. Reminded me of my old ricer days; I figured by the time I got the met going 40-45 I'd be out enough money to buy a pair of 125cc scooters.

Even a used tricked out 150cc metropolitan runs 4-6k. Which is alot, but not alot considering how much the owners dumped into them.

Yeah, I got mine for a grand before tax + license, but I've probably put over half that into it again. It's fun though, and I learned a lot. Made a couple pricey mistakes, but nothing too bad. Made me want a full-size bike, so I bought a Honda Shadow 1100cc, too.

Exact same boat here (price too 😀). I'm not mad - first 2 wheeler, so it'll be super easy to get my motorcycle license.

Funny, I was eyefucking the shadow a few years ago when I was first looking into bikes.

I definitely love my Shadow, and it might be my favorite purchase of 2013 (if that's what we decided was the scope of this thread). It's worth noting, however, that I've had a motorcycle endorsement for 16 years, just hadn't owned a bike in a long time. Buying the scooter was easy and made me love riding again, but I'll join the advise you received in that thread in saying that you may want an intermediate step between a scooter (even the Vino) and a Shadow 750 or 1100.

I've been eyefucking 350cc-400cc bikes on craigslist.

iPad mini at launch 1 year ago. No kidding. I absolutely love this thing.

I guess that doesn't count since it was 2012...

Ever? No idea.

In the past few years? iPhone 4 32GB. Bought it a month or two after launch. Got it at the AT&T store. Man, what a fucking phone. Definitely one of my best purchases ever. I've used the thing so much and it was so killer back in the day.

Outside of that? No idea... Hopefully the gold 32GB iPhone 5S I bought at launch and am still waiting for...

New house, $253,000. New as in new construction with $25k in upgrades 🙂

Living a lot closer to where we spend most of our time. Getting 60 mins of my day back.

I bought a neighboring lot to my house. It stretched me a bit, but I will NEVER have anyone live/build behind me.

2013 has been a spendy year for me.

1. Speakers - B&W 805 Diamonds
2. Guns - Sig P229, H&K USP Tactical, Glock 26
3. Suppressors - Osprey 45, Osprey 9, AAC Ti-Rant 9
4. Ammo - lots of it
5. Gun accessories
6. 2 iPhone 5s's

I'm sure there was other stuff, but those are my favorites. 🙂

We've been wanting to buy the lot across the street for years for the same reason. I think we'll have to wait for the old lady who owns it to die.

Scored a nice Weber Genesis Silver gas grill for $75 with an extra tank from CL. Was ready to pay twice that.

my Synology NAS... I use it pretty much every day and it's so nice to be able to have access to all my media/files from any computer (or DLNA-capable device) in the house without having to turn on my desktop in the home office.

Same. Was reluctant to spend $500 for a NAS win two 4 TB drives, but now I wish I got a 4 bay model.
