Google Toolbar 2.0. It rocks. Haven't had a single popup since I installed it. It's lightweight too, around 600KB and it doesn't affect IE's performance either.
Google is comming out with some great products, has anyone tried the math function built-in in the search box? It's really great.

Firebird is smaller. I don't like the separate search box though - Moz's search from address bar is much more convenient IMHO.

The great thing about moz/firebird is that if you find a problem, you can go complain to the actual developers, whereas with IE, if you have a problem, you can send an email to /dev/null (a black hole... stuff goes in, but nothing ever comes out or happens)

You can get rid of the search box by right-clicking on the toolbar and selecting "customize", then dragging the search bar into the box that appears. You can also move around all the icons this way if you wish, and toggle between large, small, and no icons at all (only text).

Can you then search from the address bar? (type in whatever you want, press up, then enter)

What it seems to do is try to find a site that matches the words you entered the closest. For example, "hello world" returns the site http://www2.latech.edu/~acm/HelloWorld.shtml. I don't know if that is what you were looking for, but that seems to be what it does.

What about those slide across ads? Does the google blocker (or any other program) stop those? I am using proxomitron which normally works pretty good but the slide across ads always somehow slip through (although they are uncommon, at least in my web surfing experience). Also I have seen some big, transparent, animated popups that make it through. Will anything stop those?

well i have the google toolbar installed and it didn't stop one of those slide-across popup windows from coming across my screen today. but that's the first one i've seen so far since installing it yesterday. if i get more, i'll know whether or not it stops those particular popups. remember, the google toolbar claims it will prevent MOST popups, not ALL popups.

I noticed that the toolbar is no longer 2.0 beta.

It's just 2.0 now.

I wonder if they updated it at all?
