I think that getting good memory involves searching for a good company and getting lucky. IMHO Infineon chips are the highest quality chips out there in the market. Any memory that uses those chips is an excellent choice. I got some CompUSA (PNY) memory and I'm able to o'clock them close to 150MHz @CAS 2. Not bad for cheap (free after rebate) generic memory. :D

Infineon. Check this poll.

Siemens/Infineon uses a 0.17 micron process for their DRAM chip fab. That makes it the most compact chip of the industry, which has less stray capacitance and less heat. Infineon SDRAM components. Less stray capacitance and less heat means more stability when you overclock. The Micron chips use standard 0.18 micron process. Micron SDRAM component selector guide. It is good but not exceptional.

compuwiz1 has the 256MB stick for under $100.
