What's the best Mobo/Processor combo I can use with an Antec true power 430?

I think the title is pretty self explanatory. I don't need to overclock or anything - I just want the fastest (yet also stable) mobo/cpu combo available. AMD only, and I'm specifically wondering if a 939 socket could work.

I'm a noob, but I feel like answering anyway. I think that power supply is enough to run any 939 motherboard and a fx-55 with ONE videocard and ONE hard drive and ONE optical drive.

Problems might arive with 2 optical drives, 3 hard drives, a card reader, 2 SLI videocards, a floppy, etc....

Then again, I could be wrong.

I have a antec 430 true power in my system..my observation is that you would be hard pressed to build any system that it would not handle..

Yeah, a 430W PS would handle almost anything you throw at it. I have a 350W PS and have scsi devices, dual hard drives, dual CD ROM's, etc. Antec is a reliable brand so I wouldn't be worried, your PS can handle whichever Mobo you choose.

I don't think that you will hvae any problems runny any movo/cpu combo. Socket 939 will definitely work. If you were building a server with multiple hard drives, multiple processors and the like, then you might run in to problems, but even then probably not. Just don't put 6 hard drives and 2 vid cards on it. Anything less than that combo, and you should be fine!

Pretty much anything. 430 watts is more tha enough for a stable system. Check out this site: Power Suply Wattage Calculator, someone posted the link a few days ago. I think it's a great tool to check if your PSU will handle your system.
Wow, that's a fantastic link. Thanks everybody for your helpful responses!

More good PSU selection info

I run 2x Opteron 242@1.725ghz-6800GT@431/1.1ghz-120gb 8mb Deathstar-36.6GB Raptor- 2ATAPI- 2x512- 3 case fans- on a true430. As long as the supply air isn't too hot it'll perform very well.

nForce2 system, XP Tbred, Radeon 9500 videocard, 5 hard drives, Promise SX4000, 1 DVD+-RW, and a PVR-350 - all on a Truepower 430W. It doesn't seem to show any signs of fatigue.

It would be nice to have a # of CPU selectors and more than 4 hard drives available. I also think a 15k SCSI drive will use more power, but I understand it's supposed to be a rough guide.

I get 503W used.

I have the same power supply in my current system, and I am also considering an upgrade, and had the same question about whether or not I needed to upgrade my power supply.

My original plan was to go with either a socket 754 or 939 MSI NEO board, as it receives a lot of praise in the Anandtech guides and reviews. However, after exploring the Anandtech forums and other forums, it appears that the MSI boards are somewhat problematic in that they do not play nice with ANTEC power supplies. If you go over to the MSI website, they do not have any ANTEC power supplies listed as being tested and compatible with their boards. If you dig around on the forums, you will find that some people with ANTEC power supplies have had trouble with MSI boards.

From the info I have gathered, ASUS boards come highly recommended and speaking from experience, I have been very pleased with ABIT as a company.

wouldn't there be a problem upgrading if the new mobo uses a 24-pin power cable? i know there's converters, but i've heard that some psu's dont work well with them

Yes, Antec makes good stuff, but I think the PC Power and Cooling 510 is king right now.

And yes, that Antec 430 is a great power supply that will power anything you can throw at it (within reason, not 25 HD's or something stupid like that) Normal setup, FX-55 OC'ing, gig or more ram, 2-3 HD's 2 optical, dual 6800 Ultra's...

My first two boxes run on 430w TruPowers (see sig). Plenty of power to spare as far as I can tell. I've lots of fans too.

I've got the truepower 380w and I run 4 7200rpm HD's (2 in raid) and 2 opticals. I've got the 754 chipset A64 2800+ and a geforce 3. System is rock solid
