Its a very stable board.. it has multiplier adjustments, but is limited to 150mhz fsb :(

I'm using an IWill KA266-R with a 1.2 Athlon. So far I've been extremely impressed. The 4.1 built in sound is handy (I had a Platinum 5.1 on my last system) free's up some cash for other components till I can get another SB Live Plat 5.1. The board is extremely OCable. You can use jumpers or the BIOS to do it. Really clear layout, well documented.

I wouldnt get the KA266.. it uses the ALi chipset. Just get the Master or an EPoX 8K7A.

I would go for an AMD 760 system, best combination of performance and stability:

7DXR
8K7A
A7M266

I would go for the board with the best feature set. The performance gain/loss between ALI, and AMD760 is not noticable in a real world sense. Benchmarks only mean so much (bragging rights for tech heads). I went with the IWill board because it's easy to OC, and has a great feature set. And for what it's worth, so for no stability problems. It's all subjective, but don't get overwhelmed by mostly meaningless differences in benchmarks.

will a 1.4ghz run in each of these motherboards: 7dxr and 8x7a+? oh and can anybody tell me what the difference between 2100 and pc2400 ddr ,other than speed, is? Can the 7dxr and 8x7a+ run pc 2400 ddr? how does the k7 master compare to the 7dxr and 8x7a+? thanks

My current setup:
1.4 GHZ AMD
512MB PC2400
MSI K7T Pro-R
4 20 GIGs in RAID 0
GeForce 3 64MB DDR
Game Theater XP Sound card
My performance with 3DMark 2001 is at the very top of the current marks with only a small OC on the video card. System is very stable. Runing Win2K. Only feature that didn't work as advertised was the RAID controller onboard, one it didn't work, two it will only use 2 drives in a RAID configuration. I put a FastTrak 100 in a PCI slot. I always buy memory that is rated above what you want to use it for since it is so hard sometimes to troubleshoot memory related problems in systems, they can come and go with no pattern. The PC2400 is rated to 300 MHZ. this means you can push the FSB to 150 MHZ and the memory won't think twice about. I'm waiting on some cooling components I want to install before I OC the CPU. Good luck

My K7 Master is very stable. Running my 1.0ghz tbird at 1.5ghz with no problems. It's a bit more expensive than other boards, but worth every penny IMO.

I'm running ASUS A7M266. It took me all of 2 minutes to OC my rig from 1.33 to 1.5GHz. Bumped up the incremental bus setting to 149MHz and that was it. The BIOS is really great, basically everything can be set from it: voltages, FSB speed, etc. Very stable board - have ran through Quake and UT for hours without any problems.

The 2 downsides are that it does not have a adjustable clock multiplier which is handy when you really want to OC your rig and it is fairly expensive at ~$180. That was more than my 1.33 Athlon! :)

I would give thumbs up for K7Master as well as everyone I've come across seems to praise it.

Another vote for the Epox 8K7A. It's the best board currently out in terms of price/performance, ease of setup, and compatibility. I've had mine for almost a month and have had no problems whatsoever!

As long as it's a AMD760 based board coming from a respectable company, I'd highly recommend it. Performance wise, they are very similar to each other. Rest depends on features and tweakability, and price.

Based on my experience, both K7 Master 1.1 and EP-8K7A are excellent boards.

I'm gonna buy an Abit KG-7 RAID with corsair pc2400 DDR RAM. I think that abit with it's softmenu III has the best overclocking tool. Can't wait till it here

Besides all of the AMD761 & Ali based boards mentioned already, I have had excellent results with my Gigabyte 7VTX board so far. It has been as stable as the AMD761 boards I have and has matched them in performance in most areas.

hey, frankroh
I have the same motherboard and similar set up. I want to overclock as well. What voltage are you running at?
