What's the best meal you've ever had?

I just got back from a trip to Wyoming, and we decided to go somewhere nice on the night before we left. We wanted tapas (small plates), so we searched online and found Blu Kitchen in Jackson, Wyoming.

We concentrated mostly on raw dishes, such as salmon carpaccio and sea scallops. We got 6 dishes in all, and all were 10/10. Most amazing meal EVER. If I was bored and had extra money, I'd fly out there just to go to this restaurant.

I'm not necessarily a "foodie", but I do go out to nice dinners a few times a year, and Blu Kitchen seriously blew me away.

So, what's yours?

best i have had was a small roadside dinner down outside of Carbondale IL. it had the best BBQ i have ever had. we had a beef brisket, mashed potatoes/gravy and peas. it as just amazing.

I don't think I've ever gone somewhere and had a meal that was better than something I could make on my own with the right ingredients.

I've never had a better lobster (for example) than when I was in Key West, dove off the boat, caught a lobster, climbed back into the boat and thew the lobster tail onto the grill I had already going.

I've never had a better steak then the ones I make myself.

I've never had better Italian food than what my wife and I make.

Etc...

There are some foods though that I'm no good at making.

Like Chinese food, there's this little hole in the wall, run down looking little place in Dania Beach FL close to the ocean in a Publix shopping center that makes the best damn Chinese food I've ever had in my life (to this day). I used to live walking distance from there and ate that stuff at least once a week when I lived there. Every time I'm back in that area now I'll make a point to go there also.

There's a sub shop in Ft. Lauderdale, FL that I used to go to that's in the back of a small convince store that makes the best subs I've ever had.

I would have to say the Prime steakhouse at the Bellagio in Vegas, super expensive but out of this world delicious.

Sounds like you just haven't eaten out at any really fine restaurants.

I've eaten at plenty of "high end" places and they're just never worth the cost IMO.

They're good but not "the best I've ever had in my life" kind of good.

Different strokes I guess.

We got the Japanese Wagyu Steaks, good bottle of wine with some friends at the Metropolitan here in Seattle. The second best steak I have ever had, but everything else made it the best meal I ever had. The best steak I have ever had was at the chop house in chicago.

this.

I can remember the best steak I've ever had but I don't think I'd call that the best meal. I don't get steak lovers... they're eating the same thing the entire meal... maybe a side of vegetables. At least with a pasta/chicken or meatball dish... well you get my point.

Lambchops at the same place.......... yum yum!

I had some excellent Mahi Mahi at the Aquarium restaurant in Kima, Texas. Probably not the BEST meal I have had (I can't pick just one), but that meal was memorable.

Potager in Denver.

Their menu changes seasonally, but they consistently make the best chicken dishes I've ever had.

Their goat cheese souffle is heavenly.
