Winter was pretty bad and I've been thinking that I want to be prepared for it.

Like, are there any exceptionally good warm mist humidifiers? ones with large capacity and fairly high "output"?

I have this one at home:

You hook it up to the furnace and put humidistat on the return duct and connect it to the "hum" terminal on your furnace's board if it has one. You can optionally hard pipe the drain line to a proper drain. I made mine go to the same drain as the furnace condensate. You can also just use a bucket. It's good to drain it and clean it once in a while.

It works VERY well, it will quickly fog up all the windows if it's set too high. You can pretty much turn the house into a sauna. Of course you don't want it that moist especially in winter... I usually keep mine to about 20% humidity. Anything higher and the windows fog then frost over.
