ArcGIS

It's not perfect, and it will devour any computer system that you throw at it, but it's amazingly powerful and according to one of the company's employees, it's the biggest COM project ever.

Agreed, same train of thought there. All of the infrastructure and design programs are incredibly intricate.

The best developed business program is the Microsoft Office Excel/Word suite.
The best developed game is the Diablo series.
Everything needs upates and patches to stay viable over time.

except it's not really a program (unless you are solely referring to the kernel), it's a large number of programs functioning together

Office 2007 is a massive leap.

Its the 1st time ive actually thought about updating office when it was still in the "costs a fortune" price range. It has a lot of new worthwhile features and the new interface literally feels like im more productive.

WordStar 6. It runs on every MS OS* released since it was released back in the DOS 3 days.

* I have not tried it on Vista yet.

For my part I'll go with Age of Emnpires II: Age of Kings, that has to be the single most balanced game ever developed, it seems like every other game nowadays they have so many stupid limits on what you can build and they always release patches to nerf the newest popular strategies, but AOK never needed patching and yet the strategies kept changing all the time since there really was no single strategy that had the upper hand.
