http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp...product&id=1158318442758&ref=10&loc=01 - Westinghouse 42" LCD on sale this week at BB online and B&M for $999.
Also check into Vizio tv's. They are definitely on the budget end, but are only sold in limited places online. B&M stores are typically limited to places like Costco and Sam's Club.
EDIT: Not sure what you'll find in the 1080i range, but for a TV that is 37"-42", 720p is definitely fine. You may not even notice a resolution difference between 1080i and 720p with a TV that size.
This certianly isn't necessarily true. Both technologies are very, very close right now, with each having it's own distinct advantages and disadvantages.Originally posted by: alkemyst
I told them I don't know much about LCD/Plasma other than LCD is the better technology.
Waiting for prices to fall is always a catch 22, but I do expect LCD prices to keep going down tremendously. It won't be long before you can't find a CRT in any retail stores, only LCD's. I personally think LCD's will most likely drop by another 10-20% by the end of this year, but that is complete speculation by myself and judged by my keeping watch of TV prices over the past few years.Originally posted by: Eeezee
I would wait. LCD prices are still falling.
Buying a 1080p television is definitely going to send you over the $1k mark though, if I remember correctly.

vizio seems not as well made in fit and finish, and the video quality is lower...but that may be the store doing that.
The main person is coming from a 32" Sony WEGA CRT and this is for bedroom viewing, the other I don't know...they just want a wall-mounted TV now.
I am looking for two director's of our company that know I can find good deals. They both put $1000 budgets on this purchase.

I just upgraded from a 27" CRT that I've had for 10 years to a 32" 1080i LCD. I found that 32" was really the sweet spot for the most satisfaction for your money. It's a lot easier finding good deals on 32" televisions, and the size is pretty sweet for anyone that has been using smaller screens.
