What's the best current software for recovering deleted files?

I haven't need anything like this in ages, but I need to get some files back that were recently deleted on an XP Pro desktop.

Can anyone recommend something that they've used recently that has worked well? Under $200 would be nice.

Edit:

Found an older thread that recommended these:

File Scavenger http://www.quetek.com/prod02.htm
Recuvva http://www.piriform.com/recuva
GetDataBack http://www.runtime.org/

I'll try the free versions and see if they find anything. If anyone thinks there's something else that may work better than the above mentioned then I'll give that a shot too.

R-Studio is probably the best for around $75. If you can't do anything with the free stuff, you can download and try it free. The free limitation is that you can view all recoverable files, but can't actually recover any file larger than 64K, or something close to that.

So I tried GetDataBack, it saw all of the files in the demo, purchased it, and it recovered most of the files, but some were useless - probably too heavily fragmented as the disk was almost full.

I'm trying the demo of r-studio ntfs now, it seems slightly more robust as it has an option to perform a full thorough scan of the drive, so maybe that will help recover those heavily fragmented files. I'll order a key for this and see how it goes.

I've used Recuva for single files and have used GetDataBack extensively with lots of success.

If you're unable to recover a file that it may not be recoverable.

You can also venture yourself with Linux and scavenge your HD for files.
