What's the "best" cheap graphics card

XP Pro, 512 MB, Athlon 2600+. Onboard graphics. I do have an AGP slot.
I would like to look at Keyhole and Nasa's World Wind and was wondering what is the cheapest video card(new, retail) that you would recommend. Newegg as way to many ~$40 video cards to choose from. I would like at least 64MB memory in the card.

Thanks, and Happy Holidays.

Bump for the morning crowd. Anyone? I don't want to spend $100, if I did I would buy a 9600. Or is any card better than onboard graphics? Geforce MX? I would like to purchase the card from either Officemax or Best Buy(usually to expensive) so I may return it if it acts up.

Thanks

I would advise against the MX series. Look for a Geforce 3 Ti200 which is probably your best bet for what you want to do for the price. If you're willing to spend a little more than $40, a Geforce 4 Ti4200 would definitely be a lot better.

I don't know if those can be had at a retail store like Best Buy for low prices, though.

Keep an eye on the after Christmas sales. I picked up a GeForce 4 MX 440 last year at OfficeMax for around $30 AR that I used to add decent video to a Shuttle XPC I built for my grandmother in law. I haven't seen as many good deals this year, but there is a chance that there may be some crazy post-holiday sales as many retailers have been having a so-so Chistmas season and may be looking to pad their 4th quarter numbers with some hot New Year's sales.

They are carrying the Diamind Stealth Radeon 7000 and 9200 cards at OfficeMax this year, and if you can find a good deal on one of the 9200s, it would be a bit better than the GeForce MX cards.

$40 or under? Any Geforce 3 card u can find, maybe an 8500 (any kind of 8500), a 9200 (not se, just 9200), a 9000, or a 9100. If you cant find any of these cards, maybe a GF4MX (either 460 or 440 but NOT 420). Look into the MX cards as a last resort. Also dont get anything that has "SE" or "LE" in it, nor an MX4000. Those cards arent worth their money at all out of the cards that i mentioned above.
