What's the best car air freshener?

My car smells like an old man and no matter what I do the smell wont go away.. so.. what's the best car air freshener out there you people have found?

You might try using some soap, or if that doesn't work maybe some better deodorant or washing your clothes more often. If that doesn't work, try the bus.

the most important part of preventing your car from smelling like ass its to keep it clean!! That means no old soda bottles and dirty clothes... that also means vacuuming, dusting, wiping and airing out your car everyonce in a while. I hate it went a persons car becomes soo cluttered to the point where you can't even sit comfortably in the back seat, and when there is no trunk space.

As for air fresheners, I persoanlly like vanillorama... but whatever you choose, stick to the same type.

Another thing that adds to the "smell" is everytime you go to the gas station. The cement/concrete there is covered in gasoline/oil. So naturally your shoes track it in to the car and onto the floor mats.

The best? None. Clean out your car or, better yet, have it detailed by a competent carwash. Then, keep it clean. 🙂

Keep the car clean is more important. I put all 4 floor mats into the washer every 2 months. The bad smell is mostly from those dirty floor mats. And of course, don't leave left over food in your car.

I'd try getting the carpet steam cleaned, then spray it with some Odor-X(name?). Most hanging from the rearview mirror car air freshener makes me sick.

You can find some nice ones at places like Wal-Mart. My favorite is a string of wooden beads with a dolphin on the end. Smells like sandalwood. I use it to mask the smell of a family member who drives it and really funks up the car. Nothing can substitute for a good clean car though, the air fresheners just mask the smell, they don't kill the source.
