What's the best burger from a franchise(available in more than 2 states)?

My wife and I ate at Fuddruckers because their burgers are supposed to be pretty good. Oddly enough I was not that impressed. The only thing it had going for it was the size of it.

In N Out comes in number one in my book
next is Island's
then Red Robin
followed by believe it or not Cracker Barrel has a delicious bacon cheese burger
Carl Jr's had a pretty good "Big burger" for a dollar when I was out in Phoenix as well(did not sell at all of the chain's though)

In-N-Out is supposedly coming to Portland, Oregon I'll believe it when I see it.

That sucks! That franchise started the same time McDonald's did and the nearest one is 2000 miles away

DriveThru: Checkers / Rally's

FastFood Sitdown: IHOP Sourdough Bacon Cheeseburger... YMMV.

EDIT: This is limited to my experiences in FL. I have not had the (dis)pleasure of In&Out or other popular chains I've read here.

Another vote for In N Out- I only tried it recently when I went to Vegas and I'm very impressed

I'm glad no chains near me, otherwise I'd get fat and ugly

My friends and I were hyped about going to Fat Burger (in Las Vegas). Eh... we were disappointed...

But if you ever come to Vancouver, Canada, there's Wally's Burger (not a chain though). It's a 60s diner style fast-food resturant. Better have a healthy heart (literally) while eating there though!

I tried Hardee's Thick burger yesterday for the first time. No one ever goes there....there is only like 1 or two cars on the parking lot at a time. After trying the burgers out I am very surprised that no one goes.....they absolutely have the best Fast Food hamburgers I have ever tried.

I'm already fat and ugly so I would love an In N Out here in Florida. I've had them on a couple of trips to California and they are BY FAR the absolute best fast food burgers. Everything made fresh and you can see everything in the kitchen/prep area.

YUMMY!

Illinois doesn't have ANY of the 'best' places mentioned :

In N Out
Jack in the Box
Hardee's (in my area by Chicago)
Backyard Burger
Sonic

Where's the love for Chicago?

Backyard Burger is pretty good for a fast food place. And I tried the new Hardee's burger. Not bad at all actually, but not as good as Backyard.

Hooters used to actually have decent burgers but the last few times I've been to one they've been absolutely horrible.

I would have to agree about Back Yard Burger. Of the choices here in Central Florida, I would rate them #1
