All this talk of McDonalds selling wings, plus the impending football season has got me thinking of hot wings.

What's the best store bought, readily available hot wings sauce?

Frank's specific hot wing sauce is more than what you need.

Tasty, readily available, store bought.

AMEN!!!!!

All Frank's Red hot sauces are my favorite. Especially the Basic. I used to put it on almost everything.

^^ This - Frank's is the best, hands down, in terms of taste. It's not very hot though; I can literally eat an entire tablespoon of the stuff without my mouth getting excessively hot.

Chicken wing 101: Half melted butter, half Frank's Hot Sauce, toss cooked chicken wings in a makeshift container made from two metal bowls, boom done.

it's so easy to make, that's what I usually do.

but I go with Frank's Buffalo Wing Sauce if I'm feeling lazy and just want a little bit to put on a chicken sandwich or something.

grilled chicken + bacon + cheddar cheese + buffalo wing sauce is one of my favorite sandwiches.

The Anchor Bar, who probably invented buffalo wings, makes them with Frank's Redhot and butter. So there you go.

And somebody beat me to it.

That combo works well for non-chicken substitutes as well; for instance the MorningStar Farms chicken nuggets (no actual chicken involved), baked in the oven and then afterwards tossed in franks' hot sauce are simply amazing; of course with a side of blue cheese and some veggies. Great for parties if you're having vegetarians over.

I'm not seeing any clear favorite.

As others have said, Frank's Red Hot (at one point called Durkee's Red Hot) is the original sauce used for buffalo wings. I've been to the Anchor Bar many times and there really isn't any controversy about this.

Ironically the "original Anchor Bar" sauces are not authentic at all. Among other things they contain margarine; the original recipe is Frank's Red Hot and butter.

Allow me to share the redhot sauce used in Maine, taken last summer.

I'll generally just make my own. Super easy. Usually I use Louisiana hot sauce.
That's what my wife is for. I wouldn't want to miss any football. By the way, Sam's Club's wings are gigantic, if anyone is looking for a good place to buy the meat. Tasty, tasty growth hormones.

Anchor Bar's sauce isn't that great. I've had Duff's at their restaurant, but never out of the bottle at home. It is indeed good though.

There are a few local places that I get sauces from.

It's never occurred to me to buy premade wing sauce. If I'm going to go to the trouble of making wings, I might as well just make the sauce, too.

What I want is a method of making lemon pepper wings. Anybody got some suggestions?

it's weird, but I actually love wing sauce on sandwiches or to dip fries/tatertots in... that's the only time I use the bottled stuff, really. I keep a bottle in my desk at work for that purpose.
