It's opening day and baseball is in my blood!!

I wanna get started on playing a season myself, but only have a PS1.

Any good games out there for the PC? What do you recommend / why?

i just bought High Heat Baseball 2003 for PC. i like it so far. it's pretty realistic. you get career mode where you can bring up players from AAA, AA or even A league to play on your team. there are suspensions and injuries. the players will argue with the umps on a questionable call. one of my players got beaned so i used Curt Schilling and threw at one of their players. i hit him and the ump ejected me and Curt was suspended for a week. i think THAT is cool. you can do double switches. that is about all i have investgated so far...i've only played about 12 games. :)

Dude, you HAVE to get Out of The Park 4. It is THE baseball game to own, if you're into the numbers and managing, rather than the playing(which gets boring really fast, once you've mastered it).
I bought it last weekend, and for the first two days spent 15 hours over two days playing it. It is so addictive.
But, I guess if you're into the arcade style gameplay, you can't go wrong with High Heat. Granted it's the only real decent arcade baseball game left for PC, it's leagues better than EA's offerings. :)

i like the concept behind that game. but i need a game that is licensed by MLB and the MLBPA. to me it just isn't any fun when you don't watch the guys you are playing/working with in real life. JMO

That's definately true, I agree. The first time I started it, I saw the fake names and teams, and went out and found real logos and rosters. There's a couple groups that make super realistic rosters for the game, so hopefully the opening day ones should be out quite soon. I'm eager to start my season re-creation. :)

I've been playing Baseball Mogul a lot recently. It definitely sounds like I should look into OOTP4 tho'.

I'm in a couple OOTP4 leagues and also play it solo on my own. The depth is amazing. As far as wanting real rosters, well you couldn't ask for more. WWW.bigcitybaseball.com has many roster sets for OOTP4. The Rolen rosters are the up-to-date current sets. But the best thing about OOTP and it's utilities is that u can start in 1908, 1969...any year you want. With the Layman database it automatically imports the new rookies each year. It's by far the best IMO.

I agree with OOTP, but I like HH too.

If you get a High Heat game, save yourself some bucks. Get 2002, not 2003. IT'S THE SAME EXACT GAME! The only difference is cutoff men set up sideways, and the frontend screens are a different color. The game is exactly the same!

the only baseball game out there is high heat... Triple Play used to have no competitors, and so our definition of a console/pc baseball game was that... High Heat changed all the standards but Triple Play has yet to adjust. If triple play was 4.99$ I might get it cuz the graphics are better then High Heats, otherwise I'd rather go outside and hit myself in the head with a baseball bat then play triple play. So anyways, yeah get high heat (any of em). Consumers and reviewers agree, it's the game to get for baseball fans

Personally, my favorite is the original Microsoft Sidewinder gamepad, it works great for the HH series. I have been buying the new HH's since '99 or 2000 but cant decide if I am going to buy the 2k3 one, I heard there were quite a few nasty bugs in it.

GoGamer.com has High Heat Major Legue Baseball 2003 for $19.90 as part of their 48 Hour Madness Sale. Since you all were kind enough to recommend it to Spooner, I just may get it.
