Whats the best 2D video card?

3D performance is secondary, I need the best 2D card. High resolution 1600x1200 minimum, text must be crystal clear. I have the moniter (IIyama Pro 510, + BNC cable) I need the video card that will give me the best screen. I am thinking G-450, or Radeon. Any opinions or recommendations?
 
My V5 5500 makes me feel like I need glasses at anything over 1600x1200. Of course I still might need glasses, but soemthing better on 2D than the V5 might still be in order.
 
I'm still busy modding my Creative GeForce2 MX to improve its image quality. Will report when finished (assuming I haven't hosed it yet 😉)
 
Sluggo, you have problems with the 2D on the V5?
In my experience the 2D visual quality on 3dfx cards has been second only to Matrox ever since the V3 3000.

Best card for 2D visual quality is the Matrox G400 or G450.
 
come on man what kind of qustion is that i bet you imagend that all the forum will say Matrox G450 from the begining.......
 
I've just successfully modified my Creative MX for superior image quality. Expect a new thread in the General Forum later today.
