I'm putting a system together soon and I'm contemplating getting a 21 inch monitor. Whats the best one at an affordable price around $500. Also the best for a 19 inch. Used primarily for gaming.

I recently bought a SONY 21" CPD-E540. I always liked Sony products and love the picture on my son's Sony 19" HMD-440. I ended up sending the monitor back cause the picture ws not bright enough, colors not vibrant enough.

I replaced it with an NEC 22" FE2111SB and couldn't be happier. It was $549.00 including shipping.

I do a lot of gaming. This monitor has a function where you can push a button and get 2 extra bright settings.

Yea, does 1600x1200 at 85hz, superbright mode for gaming

A relative has this NEC/Mitsubishi 19", and I think it looks as good as my Sony. I really like the brightness preset feature. It should make any gamer happy. It does 1920X1440 @73 Hz. Also has three year warranty.

NEC/Mitsubishi DP930 SB

NewEgg has it for $309 shipped.

I've got this monitor too and am very pleased with it. If I had to buy it again though I'd spend the extra $100 Can. and get the top model, 2141/2070.

I like the Viewsonic monitors, especially the ones with the UltraBrite Mode. I have an A90F+, which is slightly below the P95F+, and I love it.

Mitsubishi 2070sb

It's the best 21/22" CRT you can get, without getting into $1500+ professional CAD monitors. I'm running it now at 1600x1200 @ 100hz. :Q

I would have considered that one if it came in anything but black.

2060u (the previous model, which is basically the exact same thing) comes in beige.

I love Sony products and as far as I've seen, they put the best CRT's out but man are they pricey. I run a 17'' trinitron on my back up and a 19" ViewSonic on my main rig. I'm happy with both however I use a Sony 420GS at work and that is a sick monitor. Has dual inputs and sick refresh rates. I picked up my p90 Viewsonic from Newegg for 289 shipped a while back. I RMA'ed it within a month but the replacement has had no issues and the RMA process was cake.

my sony p1110 turns blurry when you turn up the brightness and the convergence is horrible.... for sony, the GDM-F520 is no doubt the best 21" monitor money can buy.. but it costs $1200...
i'd go for the diamondtron 2070 or 2060
