Just like the title says.. I'm looking to spend anywhere between 200-400$.. well, actually, this one's for my buddy who just got a system built for him from my other friend.. suggestions?

OH..by the way, no LCD's (not that I believe you can find a 19" LCD for that price) and flat screen. thanks folks.

I recommend the Viewsonic PF790, the Sony G400, or the Samsung 900nf, my favorite is the pf790...

If you're looking for high specs between that price range, your choices are the following

1. Sony G400 $399
2. Samsung 900NF $383
3. Iiyama i90A $347
4. Hitachi CM772 $359
5. KDS AV-195TF $321
6. Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 920 $379

Specs rank from the highest to the lowest, all of these monitors are better than the ViewSonic PF790.

I have the 900NF and haven't been disappointed. All on Lxi's monitor list are good choices and I don't think you could go wrong with any of them.

The prices of the monitors are REALLY good at Dell.com until 7/3, so make sure you order before then. You get 20% off and free shipping over $100!

Is the Sony G420 really worth $200 more than the Samsung 955DF? If it is, I will change my order.

Thanks,

The G420 is an aperture grille (Trinitrons and Diamondtrons) while 955DF is a shadow mask. Generally aperture grilles produce more vibrant colors while shadow masks have crisper text. I prefer aperture grilles.

Well, you're comparing a P4 with a Duron, each offer different things, you cant really compare them.

Lxi,

Enlighten me please. What will the Sony do for me that the Samsung can't? I've seen the Samsung monitor in the store briefly and at a glance, it looked as vibrant as the AG's I saw from NEC and Sony. I'm new to picking out monitors and I would like to get something good, but I don't want to overspend either.

first of all, this must be the season to buy monitors...there are a ton of active threads about "the best monitor..."

anyway, since i am looking for a good yet relatively inexpensive monitor myself i figured i would chime in...

i think i have decided on the nec AccuSync 95F...does anyone know of a reason not to buy this monitor or insist that i buy __________ (fill in the blank) for $225 shipped (the price i can get this nec for)?

The AccuSync95F is a good monitor, thanks to the Samsung DynaFlat tube, it's very affordable.

I suggest the viewsonic G90F, it's their newest 19" monitor to use their perfectflat technology without using an aperture grill, it's been available for a few months now at mwave.com. I have a viewsonic "17 flatscreen aperture grill monitor, even though the color is brighter, I would still prefer a flatscreen non-aperture grill monitor.
